It gives your community a little friend of its own: a Buddy with a name and a personality you shape, living in your Twitch chat and your Discord. Viewers talk to it, it talks back in your channel's vibe, and it gets to know your regulars over time.

Three steps: sign in with Twitch at botbuddyx.strmrx.com, shape your Buddy on the dashboard (or tap a Starter Buddy), and that's it. Chat replies switch on automatically the first time you connect Twitch, and your channel is picked up within about two minutes. Nothing to host, nothing to install, no other tools needed.

Signing in proves who you are, but posting messages in your chat needs its own Twitch permission. The "Connect Twitch" button grants exactly that, once. Until then your Buddy can be shaped and tested on the dashboard, it just can't speak in your channel yet.

The word viewers put at the front of a message to talk to your Buddy, like !ask what game is this?. You pick the word on the dashboard, and only the first word of a message counts for this one. It's the most direct way to get an answer and it always works while chat replies are on.

Yes, on the X plan. Alongside your main magic word you can add a few extras, like !buddy and !hey, and they all do the exact same thing, so viewers can reach your Buddy with whichever one they like. Add them right under the magic word on the dashboard, up to five.

Yes. Say the Buddy's name anywhere in a normal sentence, like "hey Benny, what's the schedule?", and it answers as a friend who just heard their name. This is on for every plan and you can switch it off with the "Answers to its name" toggle.

The fine print: there's a short cooldown per channel (about 30 seconds) so a wave of name drops gets one reply, not thirty. And a bare name with nothing else, like just "Benny", stays silent and costs nothing.

Words your Buddy always perks up at, chosen by you: the game you play, an inside joke, a meme. When one shows up anywhere in a chat message, Buddy reacts to that line in its personality. Add up to ten on the dashboard; tap a word to remove it.

Each word has its own cooldown per channel (about two minutes), so a "gg" flood at the end of a game costs one reply. Buddy also leaves a small gap after anything it just said, so reactions never pile on top of each other.

The big one: no magic word, no name, no listen word. When your chat is actively rolling, Buddy occasionally jumps in with one short line of its own, a reaction, a riff, a bit of hype, in its personality. It reads the recent conversation first, so what it says fits the moment.

You control how often: the Quiet to Lively dial sets its general energy, and "At most, each hour" is a hard ceiling you choose (or set to No limit). Buddy never chimes into a quiet room, never twice in quick succession, and never announces that nobody asked it. Chiming in comes with the paid plans, and it's off until you turn it on.

Any time. A viewer types !shutit (or your magic word followed by stop, like !ask stop) and your Buddy leaves them alone: it stops chiming in at them, stops reacting to their listen words, and stops answering their name. It won't bring them up in its own chatter either.

They're never fully cut off, though. If that same viewer deliberately asks it something with the magic word, it still answers, because that's them choosing to talk to it. When they want things back to normal, they type !talktome (or !ask start) and it's friends again.

Yes. Whenever Buddy speaks, it sees roughly the last twenty messages of your chat, so a question like "wait, which one is better?" makes sense to it even though the topic came up three messages ago. That context is held briefly in memory just for the reply and isn't stored anywhere.

It does. When it learns a durable little fact about someone, an interest, a running joke, a preference, it quietly keeps it and uses it naturally next time that person talks to it. That's what makes regulars feel known. Memory belongs to your Buddy alone and is never shared between channels.

All of this lives on the Memory card on your dashboard, and it works with any personality. Stream memory covers viewers and chat flow; Channel facts are your own notes (schedule, games, mods) that Buddy keeps in mind. Flip either off any time and replies start fresh.

Yep, they just say so. A viewer types something like "call me Ace" and from then on your Buddy uses that name naturally when it talks to them. If they say "only call me Ace", it sticks to that and nothing else. And if there's a name they'd rather it never use, "don't call me Ace" and it won't. It's a nice touch that makes regulars feel like it actually knows them.

No. Known chat bots like Nightbot or StreamElements are ignored entirely, and your Buddy can never trigger itself off its own replies. Only real people get its attention.

Start with a Starter Buddy (Hype Sidekick, Wholesome Helper, Deadpan Bot, Chaos Gremlin) or roll the dice with Surprise me, then make it yours: five dials (Chill to Hype, Sweet to Sassy, Serious to Silly, Clean to Edgy, Short to Chatty), vibe words for extra flavour, and a catchphrase it works in now and then. The Alive ring fills as your Buddy comes together. Use "Say hi" to hear how it sounds before it ever talks in chat.

You set how often. On the personality screen the catchphrase has a little dial: Rare keeps it a surprise that only pops up once in a blue moon, Sometimes and Often turn it up, and Off hides it entirely. A catchphrase is a spice, not a staple, so Rare is the default.

Three names, three jobs. Your Buddy's name is its identity, the name it answers to and signs its replies with. What your Buddy calls you is just how it refers to you in conversation. And the Twitch account that posts is separate plumbing; by default that's your own account (see the next question).

A little stamp at the front of every reply so it's easy to spot in a fast chat. Pick an emoji, or type one of your channel's Twitch emote codes and it shows as the actual emote image. One thing to know about emote codes: the account doing the posting has to have access to that emote, or Twitch shows it as plain text.

By default, yours: replies post from your Twitch account with your Buddy's name in front, like Benny → Streaming till 9!, so viewers always know who's talking. If you'd rather have a dedicated account, use "Connect bot account" on the dashboard.

Make (or reuse) a Twitch account for your Buddy, then on the dashboard choose "Connect bot account" and sign in as that account one time. Heads up: Twitch signs in whichever account your browser is already on, so if its screen shows your name at the top, click the small "Not you? Log out" link there and sign in as the Buddy's account instead. Two requirements: authorize it once, and mod it in your channel so Twitch lets it speak freely. In this mode the account's username is the identity, so replies drop the name prefix and keep just the badge. If the bot account ever breaks, replies quietly fall back to posting from your account so your Buddy never goes missing.

One answer from your Buddy, one credit, no matter how it was triggered: magic word, name call, listen word, a chime, or the "Say hi" tester on the dashboard. Things that don't cost anything: messages it ignores, bare name drops, and everything in the personality creator.

Your Buddy goes quiet gracefully. It never posts an error or an upsell into your chat; it simply doesn't answer until credits are back. There's also an early safety: when you're running low (under about ten credits), chiming in pauses on its own so ambient chatter can never eat the credits a real question would need. Direct asks and name calls keep working down to zero.

Every plan includes every feature; they differ only in how many replies a month you get: Free is 10 to try it out, Start is 100, Grow is 500, Scale is 2,000. Chiming in is the one paid perk. Your plan is tied to your channel because you sign in with Twitch first. Cancel anytime.

Yes, the same Buddy with the same name and personality can live in your Discord server. Today it answers commands, @mentions, and its own name said in a sentence. Chiming in, listen words, conversation context, and picking exactly which channels it hangs out in are on the way, with their own separate Discord settings so your server's Buddy can behave a little differently than your stream's.

In order: is Enable chat replies on? Is your Twitch account connected (the dashboard shows "Connected to your channel" when it is)? Do you have credits left? If those all pass, remember the cooldowns: name calls wait about 30 seconds between replies and each listen word waits about two minutes. And a message that's only the Buddy's name with nothing else is ignored on purpose.

That's what the dials are for. Too chatty: lower the energy dial, lower the hourly ceiling, or switch chiming off entirely; the Short to Chatty personality dial also shortens its answers. Too quiet: raise the energy, raise the ceiling, and make sure your chat is actually active, because Buddy deliberately won't chime into an empty room.
